  3. Probably thick lipped grey mullet, Chelon labrosus. Very common around harbours and estuaries in Devon and Cornwall. I used to have to sample them by seining from the River Lynher in Cornwall to assist a colleagues PhD project.
  4. Interesting. My husband took the picture of the firefighter/baby at the Oklahoma City bombing. He stood with a wide angle lens on a Nikon camera. Over his shoulder and back, another man took the identical shot with a zoom lens. My husband’s was cropped and used for the cover of Newsweek magazine which made it look blurry, but the whole shot was inside the magazine, sharp. The other guy’s was on the New York Times newspaper (?) and won the Pulitzer because of the newspaper connection. Neither guy was a professional. The other guy walked out of his downtown office, my husband worked for the natural gas co. and went downtown to make sure it wasn’t a gas explosion. Betty

  9. Unless there are some real 'stinkers' lurking in your collection, Edo, I'd say leave things as they are. I've recently licensed some of the earliest pix I uploaded here. Processing could have been better, but, hey... they sold... 😀

  11. Good question. Edo, I sometimes think I know what picture buyers should buy, but I honestly don't know what they are going to buy and when. It's hard to gues what will sell but just as hard to guess what won't. A 7 year old and a 10 year old picture returned their first licences last week, could I have culled them? I think if you're happy with a picture when you submit it, then stick with it. James
  12. I continue to be amazed how pictures I'm not sure about sell while pictures that I think are good with good sales potential don't. I agree with Joseph.. unless you notice something terrible going on with your CTR, I'd just leave the images there.

  14. Hasn't gone through yet. I was waiting for permission to use some photos that were taken on someone else's premises before submitting the batch. There are objects in the foreground of mine but I don't think there's an issue in the case of yours because the train is obviously the main focus of the picture, whereas in mine it's the building in the distance, and the foreground is peripheral. Anyway, we will see when it finally gets submitted. Alan
  15. Ah, yet another example of your clear, logical thinking, Joseph. 😀
  16. I'm all for competitors culling their portfolios, especially where they have images which compete directly with mine. In all honesty, apart from removing similars which pull down one's CTR, I can't see any downside in a competent photographer retaining images which may eventually sell. There is no obvious cost to doing so.
  17. That is the question. Yes, I know it has been asked before. I thought an update of the thinking might be useful. Me? Many times I've decided to delete some images but before I do I lose the belief that it's a good idea and I'm unsure of which pics should disappear and why. Too many similes? I don't think that's the case with me. I do revisit subjects but I see that as a different thing from similars. Is it? Hmmm. My sales are good. and the prices are not bad for editorial RM digital stock . . . so should I leave things as they are??? Edo
  18. Good move, as many had a nightmare getting out with some still there after dark
  19. There were no traffic issues on Friday, but there were serious rain issues! I arrived for 08.45 on Saturday and got in quite easily. Left early as I had a 100 mile journey back to London.
  20. I'd planned my year well in advance and chose to go Sunday, before RIAT had announced the show day contents such that all the best flying occurred on the Saturday. At least there were no traffic issues yesterday!

  22. I know they're common, and relatively easy to shoot, but just sometimes, the colours, expression on the fish and composition all fall into place.
  23. Adie, I've been watching the British crime drama Vera where this statue appears in the opening credits. I've been intrigued by it and kept thinking I should do a google search to figure out what it is. Well now, thanks to you, I know. Gave you a greenie. Well-deserved as you always work hard to find so many photos.
