  3. When I started off I was well above average on CTR, but now I'm on a 0.54 rolling monthly average (depressingly below Alamy's 0.59 average). I probably need to go back and look at some of my earlier captions and keywords at some point. It's probably very difficult to compare contributors because you can't look at the stats. It's all a function of how big your collection is, how often you submit new material, how often you sell, CTR, etc..... Steve
  4. I'm going nuts (again!). I know there was a sticky about the importance of accuracy when labelling files as exclusive, which I wanted to link to for someone - but I've lost it. I think I've checked each forum twice, and I'm sure it was at the top. Can someone please save my sanity and point me to it? Thanks.
  5. Lots of talk on here about CTR, my CTR hovers somewhere between 0.45 - 0.65. Average CTR on Alamy often seems to be about 0.59 ish. As a matter of interest what CTR do regular contributors experience? Obviously above average is good but what type of CTR makes a difference? Any ideas? BW, John

  7. Nice! I'm miles off on 18. Still, there's always next month... 🙄 (a common mantra!)
  8. Just a small milestone, but reached 100 sales for the year this morning.
  9. Will that reset on the 1st Jan every year...? 😉
  10. I contribute (off my own back) to a national and local paper which are produced from the same office in Cork, Ireland. The paper(s) has FOUR staffers, but it still uses many of my images, and other freelancers, on a weekly basis for very nice fees.
  11. If, as suspected by some, there hasn't been a rerank for about 3 years, I'd say it is now irrelevant. I deleted my BHZs a long time ago and stopped worrying about it. It never gave me any clues to sales anyway.
  12. Today
  13. Thanks for the info but is there a language barrier here, or are we at cross purposes? By "image quality" I mean technical quality- the term has nothing to do with content. I don't know anyone who would use the term "image quality" to refer to content. For the avoidance of doubt, OP, Alamy QC does not consider the content of an image at all.
  14. Lightroom settings clarity, vibrance and saturation. It's part of my import default.
  15. You need to refer to the terms on which you licensed the images. I don't know where you are, but in the UK, if there's no written agreement, the courts would say that the licence was very narrow. It certainly wouldn't extend to a monopoly over the design depicted. Even if your buyer bought the item he wouldn't have any rights in its design.
  16. Hi Doug, How long is a piece of string...? No, but seriously, the conventional wisdom with Alamy is that you make less sales here, but that the commission and fee is generally higher than with e.g. microstock agencies. It used to be reckoned that you would make on average 1 sale per month per 1000 images here. I'm not sure how much either of these suppositions holds true now as microstock prices seem to be dragging the whole industry down and Alamy has just recently passed 200 million images for sale. Bearing in mind the size of the catalogue, your 279 pictures is pretty small peanuts! Anyway, welcome and good luck. Steve
  17. BHZ? Blimey, kinda feels like talking about Kodachrome these days! Still relevant, do you think?
  18. On the back of some of this, we've made a few tweaks. Related to off-topic and arguing etc, we've now got a warning points system. https://discussion.alamy.com/topic/13008-forum-mini-update/ Hopefully we won't need to use it much and it will help keep things constructive. Cheers James A
  19. Hi All, We've made a few tweaks behind the scenes on the forum to adjust a couple of things - nothing major, and all designed to keep this place as productive as possible. Posts with 10 or more positive reactions will now be highlighted within the thread, this is designed to make the more popular posts stand out There is a new warning system now for users who break rules or cause conflict. Accumulating points may lead to temporary bans on posting for short periods of time You can now add animated gifs to posts. It's just a bit of fun and is also pretty standard across social platforms If we spot users who never contribute to the forum other than clicking the red or green arrows, or targeting specific users, then they may have their ability to click these reactions removed. All other read/write privileges will remain the same We've tweaked a few of the group levels/status titles depending on how many posts you make - just a bit of fun, but to now have the rank of "part of the forum furniture" you'd need to amass more then 10,000 posts Cheers Alamy

  22. I am new here and am having the same problem uploading images. It just freezes as soon as it starts, Ive tried different types of files and sizes. I wonder if there will be a fix or do I need to upload by some other means?
  23. Had a bit of a recalculation as due to inflation, the old numbers we're a bit out-dated. 10,000+ now gives you the title.
  24. Presentation/Newsletters - Italy, going by the strange words attached. Just managed to scrape $$
  25. Differently from Alamy, where they start from giving your pics away fro free ( see those clients who buy your pic for newsletter use and the day after they ask for refund so that they have your photo for free for any use they want. Something it happens frequently in my case), Shutterstock starts from 0,25USD but I got several double digit sales, including an interesting one for a calendar cover.
