That is good news. I'm not in the news-paper deal or Novel Use and have only a few distributors. I sell fewer than 100 images a year on Alamy, so is this only some fluke? Rolf Yes, if you don't have those loose-change sales plans, prices may be up some . . . but gross income is the more important number. Remember we get a smaller percentage now from Alamy. Doc Posted September 16, 2014 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Looking at the first 8 months of 2013 and comparing them to the first 8months of 2014, 2013: number of licences: 307; gross income: $14,890; average gross per licence: $48.50 2014: no. of licences : 289 ( ), but gross income: $15282; average gross/licence: $52.87 So average may be slightly up but probably not significantly.... John Mitchell Posted September 16, 2014 Share Posted September 16, 2014 My average price per image this year is $80 compared to $74 last year (not in newspaper scheme or NU), but I would attribute this slight rise to fewer distributor sales and more Alamy sales in 2014 rather than to prices being up. Yes. I deduct it from my net income... That said. All travel plans have more or less been shelved for the time being due to the unsustainabilty thereof. I'm in the same boat, and the boat has to stay moored to the dock these days, which is a shame because travel-related photos are my best sellers. Martin P Wilson Posted September 17, 2014 Share Posted September 17, 2014 On a small (not statistically significant) sample mine have halved since 2009, between 2002 and 2008 I averaged $100 or mostly better, it dipped to the 80s in 2009/10 and to $40-65 since. There has been a slight tick up this year over last but still lower than 2012, but that is all well within normal variability. A factor to consider........ many more images now are licenced for web/electronic use (lower $) rather than print (higher $ generally), so hence lower average pricing.
