On my recent trip through the UK on my bike I kept an eye on the weather images used and decided for the tabloids you need 1) human interest 2) pretty girl with hair out of place 3) someone preferably going into water (cor what a scorcher) 4) someone with a Union Jack umbrella battling elements, 5) silhouette of someone with a UK landmark in the background at sunrise/sunset.

Best case scenario, pretty young lady in bikini with hair out of place because of wind going into the rough seas carrying a Union Jack umbrella battling the elements with a easily recognisable UK landmark in the background. At sunrise.

Ha! Or people walking dogs on a beach. Brits love their dogs. Two out of the three recent News images I’ve sold were of such.

Sorry if I'm teaching grandmother, etc., but I run through my zooms periodically (probably too periodically) and pick up some NS uses before they report.

Yes, I do this too.... obviously didn't help in this case! :)

Hi Guys, some question:
Which technique use to find the images?
For sure, you found only online images or it's possible find the printed images to?
My pseudonym it's very common, do you suggest to change it in one more unique to easly find my pics?

Thank you so much for your active searching

Hi,

Most people use Google reverse search and/or Tineye to find online uses.
To the best of my knowledge the only way to find printed uses is to buy the paper/magazine/book and use the captions and credits to seach Alamy.
Maybe someone else has other thoughts?

Yes those two apps are my main weapons, but sometimes you have to search the Alamy catalogue using keywords. That is very revealing, as you get to see all of the irrelevant tags used and also find that many contributors use keywords far too sparingly. It is educational, every contributor should have a go at finding images!

The reverse search engines generally cannot detect a mirror image usage, and a landscape crop from a portrait (or vice versa) causes problems.
