I opted out of PU because I did not like the pricing.

Also with distributor sale being counted on one hand out of all sales I am not missing out on much.

I don't see any of this in the contract, that's why I asked. If you could point out where you saw/read it we would appreciate. Or is it just your impression??

It's been said before. Don't have time to search the forum tonight, but I believe that it was confirmed by Alamy.

Indeed. It has been discussed many times and confirmed by Alamy.

There are some really low distributor prices, for sure.

However, these days, the actual pricing can be as good as direct, sometimes even better than direct. I'd probably lose a good 20% of my income if I opted out.

Would be nice if someone from Alamy comment here and confirm that by opting out of personal use you are also out of distribution scheme. I find it weird because there's no mention to it and I can't find it in the contract as well. I believe you guys saying so, but would be nice if Alamy came here to clear things up and explain why this happens.

Thank you, but it wasn't really confirmed by Alamy. Here's what they said: "As we stated, it's not currently possible to opt out of personal use sales whilst at the same time guaranteeing that the same images will be available via distribution".

So what they are saying is that maybe your images won't go for the distribution scheme. That's pretty vague IMO. However I'm thinking this whole discussion is kinda of a moot point as you can cancel the US$ 19,99 for personal use, but someone thinking on buying the cheapest license regardless of the use still has the option to pay the same US$ 19,99 for "Presentation or newsletter", and you can't opt out of that.

What Alamy have said in the past is that not all distributors' systems are set up to accept restrictions. So I guess what A was saying above is that restricted images will be sent to some distributors but not all.

I agree, cheaters will merely move to Presentation as it's already been seen in a few cases.

Two PU last month, both refunded within days. Says it all...

Never had a Print sale.

OK.  Let me repeat myself - it is what happened to me when i opted out of PU.

It is not a case of 'where did I hear that...'  It is what happened.

I suggest you opt out of PU and see what happens.

price paid is quite ridiculous.

Would love seeing & immediately join mass exoduses from ALL ridiculous price schemes.

Increasing percentage of contribs to many agencies now are part timers

with other FT work who are supplimenting therefore skipping ANY extra

dollars makes no sense; others are stock novices seeking thrill of getting

anything licensed at ANY fee -- just to declare themselves published...?

If AlamyPrint was not connected to distrib, some would drop if volume

didn't follow, but distrib. $$$ can be regularly meaningful, therefore...
