Spacecadet, Sorry but life is too short for GIS! My thinking is that the image itself will help the photographer identify it themselves. Something is better than nothing, surely?

Fair enough but it's usually just a couple of right-clicks. Not much more time than combing through an article in the first place.

You'll notice that almost everyone else who posts here tracks down the photographer. I repeat that he can only find himself in the thread if he's named.
