Inadvertent deletion of images

Recommended Posts

I've been working my way back through my port modifying keywords etc. This morning I worked on a batch, but this evening I find that the batch has been deleted.

I guess that I was at fault, but I certainly didn't intend to delete and don't recall seeing any warning that deletion was about to occur. I've contacted contributor relations to see if the photos can be restored.

I assume that this is a one off and due to my error, but just wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem?

I clearly need to tread very warily in future  :(

Thanks Wim, but that is not finding them. They are still visible but marked Deleted, rather than Deletion Pending.

I've since found how to delete images using the new system - there is a delete button at the bottom of the Optional screen. I certainly did not deliberately use this, but I may have picked it accidentally. However I would have thought that there should have been a warning that damage was about to be done, with a need to confirm the selection.

Using that button surely does not delete live images immediately?

When I click it there's this pop-up:

Delete selected images

Are you sure you want to delete the selected image?

For images already on sale the deletion period is 180 days. For images yet to go on sale the deletion will be completed with the next search engine refresh, usually within 24 hours.

Cancel / Delete

You do have to click it, it does not react to the enter key.

So deleting images via this route is not very likely.

edit: there is of course the possibility to delete images that have not yet gone live.

That's not a big deal as one can just re-upload. (Usually a corrected image.)

Write CS and ask that they be restored. I did that once when one sold from several I had up for deletion and I decided who was I to know what a customer wanted. Every so often one is sold or zoomed from my junk pseudo.

They'll be happy to restore them.
