Shergar
Wife don't normally let me ask questions so lets hope she dun read this. Firstly let me say me shorts are full of fear incase its bin asked before. If it has just leave a FO in the reply bit and I will know what you mean. With the new thingy I see that the search favors the caption, could this be because large press agency caption but don't seem to keyword? An advanced search on the contributor for "zuma" would be an example of what I mean. Ave a bleddy ansum day.
John Richmond
I've a suspicion you may be right, Cornish (or Dempshire?) person living in California. I've always written good captions (within Alamy's limits) and my views have almost doubled since the new AIM was instituted. And yes, zooms and sales have followed. losdemas
Mmmm, interesting. Good post, but I can't help feeling that some contributors outside of the UK might be left a little confused! Your point about the captions might well be justified. Not sure if this has changed recently though? I tend to think that Alamy continually update/change/vary their search algorithm in an attempt to give a fair crack of the whip across all of their content. wiskerke
Zuma is a news agency. They get captions that have 600 characters. Not sure if they have to have at least 5 keywords as regular stock has to. With less than 5 an image will refuse to go live. I have some legacy news images that have no keywords, while being live, so it used to be possible. Now the real question: does this favor those agencies? That's easy to answer: how often does Zuma come first in searches? wim

John Mitchell
Whatever the reason, I hope that the search engine continues to favour captions because it puts us longtime contributors at an advantage. Many of the images now flooding in from other agencies, etc. are 'orribly captioned.
