Alamywhacks- who's unique?

(More than one image, but they are all mine - did you mean just one image or that all results for a specific search are yours?)

All results yours. More interested in single results, and I meant actual customer search results, rather than search terms you could think of yourself.

Thanks, It's been zoomed a few times and sold once already, but the single view amused me. It's a niche for someone but I don't think I'll be back in Bordeaux any time soon. Although that one was taken in Toulouse, I think the searcher was after something else.

It comes up first on Google Images, though.

I've got quite a number of photos of plant species and varieties where my shots are the only ones on Alamy but it's rare for me to only have a single shot to represent them.  However, I've had two sales recently (three in total) for one of my uniques.  All searched for by the species and variety.  Very satisfying.

Had a couple of single view searches this month, one zoomed (Edit - just checked it was used by the Mail). Nothing particularly special or unusual about either of them, so I won't be divulging here what they were!

Further edit - an as yet unsearched exclusive of mine that I am quite fond of "no gazebos allowed"

The point of the thread was to see what they were.

Come on Spacecadet, you know that's so simple: go to AoA and have a look at any of the searches with Views: 1.

For a search 11-12 October there are a bit over 200.

And 1420 with 0 views!

Because AoA does not show filter settings, the result may be more than one though.

The same for restrictions: sometimes no image comes up. Probably because I am in a restricted part of the world.

My thread was about contributors' own examples, not how to find them in AoA.

Of course it was, but somehow contributors don't seem to be proud of them as we once were.

Last time already the thread lasted for barely a page.

I don't seem to be so creative: I think I have none.

Ooh, I just had one this morning. Total Views: 1, Total Zooms: 1. I didn't even realise I was the only person with a photo of it.

Alan

The idea was to see what some of these odd images were. A few of us have revealed them. Not much point to the thread otherwise.

Let me get back to it. I said I have none. But that turns out not to be true.

When I go to my Pseudonym Summary; click on my pseudo's and set the Total Views to Ascending (^) I get between 40 and 50 searches with only 1 view, which is an image of mine.

Here they are:

Alabama Scenic Byways
barbican hall interior stage
Bologna school of medicine
canal cruise amsterdam child
coca cola vintage ad [Land] [Front]
devil take us
regrowth controlled fire damage
Roman Catholic Church Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca in Bologna
woman dressing saint statue
Anna Maria restaurant bologna italy
Anthony d'Offay
Bar Huf AMSTERDAM
berlin wall falling 1989 [Land]
bistro du coin
bob dylan an bike
bronze statue of cincinnatus
brouwersgracht crowds
child looking food investigate [WP] [baby] [Child]
christchurch Hagley Park 2014
Cook and Book, Brussels
Coolangatta Mountain
darwin leaflet
dupont circle bar
dutch students jewish
finger in a leaking dike
home wide load US
Justus Lipsius building [Land] [DT] [Europe]
Museo de Belles Artes in Seville
ontario mills california
ontario mills los angeles
rieker bike windmill [Land]
sea star missing arm
signs of new life metaphor
spanish shoe card
Taboo Bar AMSTERDAM
Tallis Scholars
the sixteen with harry christophers
tutti fruity hat [FS]
warm gazebo glowing
wim hoff
xpress spa

Now most of those are only there because of the way the client has used his/her keywords to perform the search.

Some results are nonsense.

Take the bronze statue of cincinnatus:

yes I have

the-general-ulysses-s-grant-memorial-in-

however the client probably does not want the horse of Ulysses S. Grant,

but the Roman Warrior in Cincinatti:

the-monument-of-legendary-roman-military

Not mine.

I just drove past, not deeming it worth a second look.

So he/she has the Alamonopoly, but I had the Alamywhack: the combination of keywords that yields only 1 result. Albeit the wrong one.

The Roman warrior lacks the keyword bronze.

Some results are a riddle:

the sixteen with harry christophers

Mine:

a-london-christmas-tradition-sing-along-

A London Christmas Tradition: sing-along Carols with Harry Christophers and The Sixteen in the Foyer of the Queen Elizabeth Hall

But now 29 more (all by Jason Bye) turn up, including the brilliant:

the-sixteen-by-candlelight-led-by-harry-

Can you figure out why initially there was only 1 image returned? And why now there are 29 more, which in fact are all older?

Hint: it's a keyword that only recently must have gotten included in the list of words that are skipped by the search engine.

So there you have it: now all you UK shooters go out to get a shot of The Tallis Scholars too. The Italians can get to Bologna; the US shooters to DC; and all the Dutch can go and stick a finger in a dike.

wim

edit: typo

edit2: Afaik you can come in for free after the Christmas concert of The Sixteen for just the sing-along. The concert however is worth the voyage.

Doesn't applying the "spirit of a google whack" require that only searches with 2 keywords qualify?

Mine happened to be 2 words, but no, I think any search qualifies. The longer the funnier, judging by Wim's collection.

Edit: turns out I have a page and a half of them this year, including 2 zooms. Ho hum.

The most interesting is "celery victor".
