Contributor-only forum

Even though this forum is called Contributor Forum, everyone, including customers, can access it, but I think that some topics we're discussing here should stay between us contributors and Alamy. I'm mainly thinking about pricing discussions. It is neither in our nor in Alamy's interest if all customers can read our posts about low prices, and that the calculator price is almost all the time discounted.

To live up to its title Contributor Forum, I'd prefer it if the forum was accessible only to contributors. The easiest way to achieve this is to only allow logged in people to see posts.

Not only can it be accessed by anyone but it's also indexed by Google. If I were to google "chrumu Alamy" this thread and anything else you're posed on the Alamy Forums would probably come up - maybe not immediately but in the near future.

You've just described the old forum..... Alamy made it clear they wanted this forum to be open to all and sundry.......

There are private Alamy-based forums inc a FB one.

Did Alamy state a reason why? Personally I don't have any worries, I think, but there is quite a bit on here that perhaps could be "iffy" if perused by buyers; info, complaints and squabbles etc. . However, I do wonder how many, if any, buyers actually visit?

Few years ago we did not share our earnings here on Alamy forum so they decided to open it for everyone, but now many people complain about extremly low prices and that's not good that everyone (I mean clients mostly) can read that and I agree it should be hidden.

I just got another $5,55 sale today morning (distrib., $1,66 for me   ) and even if I wish to share my thoughts, I have no place for it on Alamy forum - if I don't want other clients to know about that...

I thought it was to use the forum to answer questions from people who were just starting out, maybe as a shop window (boy that doesn't work!!)...... basically I think to take some work away from MS.

I am very surprised that there hasn't been a resurgence in a private Alamy forum as this one is now a little vanilla......

Thanks for the info on the FB forum. I just put in a request to join.

An option to make certain discussions such as "How was your month?" private would make sense. I'd think it would be in Alamy's interest too.

IMO, the people who most need the advice etc this forum can offer are those who have just started, or are just about to start . . . that is, are about to become contributors but aren't yet.

And really, if you don't want anyone to see your post about low sales, there's a very obvious answer that many, many here have advocated for a very long time . . .

We've answered this in the past, but a closed forum or closed off sections of the forum is totally against the ethos of what we want our forum to be.

DD hits the nail on the head really.
