Hello from Tennessee!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Alamy and wondered if anyone has any tips on how to get people to even look at my profile. I mostly post images of my children since they are my easiest subjects at this point in my life. Am I supposed to categorize my images myself or is that done automatically based on keywords? Any tips??

Thanks!

Welcome Paige.

Some good advice from Philippe,.......... though after looking through your images I would say you have a few sellers in your portfolio already (little girl throwing a tantrum, girl with lollipop, playing on swings, kids on beach etc.

You don't have to categorise, good accurate keywording and captioning is all the buyers need to find them. It may take a while before you get your first sale reported.

Good Luck

Cute kids! I think you could benefit by looking again at the Alamy advice for keywording. Sometimes you have "girl" in the caption but not the keywords. The essential field in keywording is the most important so that basic information should be there. Also include plurals -- girl, girls, child, children. Just give that whole part of your work more attention. Don't steal other photographers' keywords but if you take a look at what other people are doing it should help you with some ideas.

I checked out your website and you do beautiful work. Philippe is right that you need to think about how your images would illustrate an article. I do animals, not people, and I find my animal behavior images sell much better than my beautiful animal photos. I think you will find it is the same with your kids. Pay attention on the Forum to the thread on "Have you found any Alamy images" and you will see images that have sold. If you go into Alamy Measures and look at All of Alamy you will see the actual search words used by buyers. You can use the search box at the top to see how people have asked for your subject. If you put in %girl it will show you the searches for girls. I do admire your work.

Thank you all so much for your feedback and suggestions. I will definitely think more along the lines of submitting images of my subjects "doing" things. Thanks so much for the tips on keywording, too. I find it especially hard to keyword expressions because they can be interpreted so differently. I'll definitely check out the forum you suggested, Paulette.

Welcome to Alamy! I'm new as well and have only a few images uploaded, still to make my first sale, but I upload regularly and am confident I'll bag my first very soon.  Your images are nice, I'd echo what others have said - try to think commercially.  Good luck!
