Large Street Murals?

So . . . a worldwide phenomenon this is. Amazing. Perhaps I should not, but I assume that at least most of the time permission was given to use the space . . . and at least some of the time the artists were commissioned and paid.

There is more public art in general sprouting up around Vancouver. However, when it comes to large murals, there are fewer and fewer old buildings to paint them on. They are all getting torn down to make room for gleaming  towers of glass and steel, which don't make very good canvasses. For instance, this leaping Orca mural was a familiar downtown landmark until the brick building was demolished not long ago.

Yes, it's in Poland too and I'm going to shoot them all possible in Warsaw, but... yeah but... the weather doesn't help ;) I love this new art trend, impressive and I think it brings light and life to the grey blocks of flats...

Yes, there is big surge of murals all around and not just in the large cities, also out in the suburbs.

I can't seem to post a medium size image anymore, it is either a little thumbnail or a large one!

Street murals are fun to photograph, but is there any buyer interest, I wonder.

I don't make a habit of photographing large street art murals, but I do have a few here. This last year has produced 4 different sales, for $217.71.

So if you're passing.....take that photo !

There must be an issue with copyright here surely?

By the way I have an image of a large street Muriel but she won't let me post it here. :)

A long, new mural in Oslo Norway “Mare Nostrum”  by  the artists Torunn Skjelland and Vigdis Fjellheim, depicting the struggles of the boat refugees crossing the Mediterranean sea:

(Stavanger Norway has its own international street art festival Nuart every year, might get back to that later.)
