Is it the sames as year ago where we may upload only large file, no watermark protection, to see images submitted must vote on every first? And agree to share it widely everywhere? Is Alamy helping get images for free here?

No thanks! With full respect, but I'd preffer sell that images in Alamy and earned 150$ (and hopefuly more) use in choosen way... Not loosing control over the submitted work.

Hobby competition game is good when it's fair and healthy with restrictions given to authors (people should read agreement (no5 is interesting mostly) carefuly before upload files!).

A cynic (where? . . . ) would speculate that having to vote on every image is a neat way to get you to click and click and click and click and click . . . but then, who listens to cynics?

Here is a suggestion for a different type of contest.

How about awarding a renewable 55% royalties for a year prize, to all Alamy photographers who submit regularly, have a top QC record, are in the top 500 in sales, and in the top 10% in CTR.

That is the kind of meaningful ongoing contest, that would set a reasonable attainable goal, that would be beneficial for everyone, including Alamy !!

Or . . .

What about several categories, to even things up a bit and spread the kudos around:

  • most submissions for the month or quarter (for the volume folk)
  • perfect QC for a minimum number of submission for the month or quarter (for the technical-quality folk)
  • top x sales for the month or quarter (number or value, top ten or 5 or 12--for the achieving folk)
  • top CTR for the month or quarter (for the zoom fans)
  • least number of complaining posts to forum for the month or quarter
  • least number of "me too" posts
  • most number of genuine posts to the "found images" threads
  • cutest avatar
  • weirdest avatar
  • penalties for avatar that shows member about 20 years younger but member not letting on
  • penalties for wanton overuse of "dude", "tog" and "I'm not a lawyer but . . . "

. . . or not.
