As a Canadian photographer I paid by Alamy through wire transfer to my bank. The bank charges me $15 for every deposit. Are there other photographers outside of the UK who are experiencing the same or similar thing?

I would much rather go back to having a check mailed to me but apparently that is no longer an option. I have contacted Alamy member services about other payment options – I've yet to hear back only contacted them today – but I'm wondering if there are other photographers in the same boat?

Thanks

I've fought this battle with three different banks in the U.S. and the key when talking with the bank is to never

say "Wire Transfer."  I just went round and round with a bank in New England.  If I tell them that I receive the

money via "Wire Transfer" they tell me there is a fee.  If I tell them I receive the money via ACH, there is no

fee.  I will also add that for the last few years it normally takes two business days from the time Alamy sends

me a copy of the payment order until I see the money in my account.

I wouldn't dare in Japan - they really know how to charge!  About $25 to receive a wire transfer... I signed up to receive payments via PayPal but still need enough sales to reach the threshold (1 small one so far)... so payments not a big problem right now.

Paypal here too.

And, if it wasn't a banned topic I'd relate that other sources of photo-generated income also arrive via Paypal . . . but as such is frowned upon, I won't mention it . . .

I used to get paid by wire transfer but now use PayPal to avoid the $15 charged by Canadian banks. PayPal is slower but free and reliable (so far). Direct international deposit/debit doesn't work in Canada, so I don't think there are any other options.

Unfortunately, ACH  (Automated Clearing House) only works within the USA (where Alamy has an office).
