  1. I've finely just past the $100,000 total sales to date figure, about 20 years submitting. Time to celebrate, can go out now and buy half a cup of coffee.
  2. Re: the recent (ish) discussion on shooting more plants… the other day I had 5 different shots of the same blooming tree zoomed, different trees taken at different times. Betcha I get a sale…. And Talkwalker notified me of two plant sales published in magazines that Alamy hasn’t notified me of. I will be supplying them the information.
  3. Hi everyone, I haven’t seen any discussion about the subject in the forum, so here goes. Has anyone taken part in Alamy’s POTM on Twitter or Instagram? If yes, then did you see an increase in your sales or do you feel you gained exposure? What are your thoughts about POTM? Thanks for sharing your experience! Take care, Aurore
  4. Was there not once a celebration (bunting, fizz etc.) or an email telling us we were in the special club, for those who had passed 100k in sales? It feels as if I've reached 100 in years but have been missed off the queen's telegram list. Richard.
  5. Hi all, I have quite a decent sized portfolio of images but don't think that sales are commensurate with effort. Is this because most all of my images are RM? Does anybody have a useful comparison sales wise between rights managed images and royalt free images? Cheers, Steve
  6. Personally I would find it useful if there was a field associated with each photo that recorded the number of times that the photo had sold and, ideally, its max, min and average price. That way it would be easier to remove photos that were not selling from each portfolio. :-)
  7. Hi Everyone Can anyone please take a look at my portfolio and just give me some idea where im going wrong. Ive been submitting now for 2 months and not had one single sale. I sell to other microstock sites and do ok, why I am not getting sales here. Is my portfolio just not good enough or is what I photograph more related to microstock and shall I stop wasting my time submitting here Thank you in advance - Steve
  8. Hello mates, My name is Miguel Moya Moreno and I have been a collaborator of the agency for a few years. I am writing to you because I have seen one of my photographs published in an internet publisher and with the caption naming Alamy but it does not appear on my sales list. I'd like to know if the same thing has ever happened to anyone. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
  9. Anyone else feel a bit deflated when they don't receive an early morning dopamine boost from seeing a sale on Alamy? I know its a bit sad and rather pathetic but it is so much harder getting out of bed on these grey mornings without that little pick-me-up! Do you think I could possibly sue on medical grounds? 😉
  10. Hello, greetings from Spain! I would like to know your opinion. I have been in stock photography for a while, although lately I am working more on it. With a portfolio of about 1,300 images, I have sales in several agencies, every day, but on Alamy I have only had 1 sale, in the last year. I know that the best thing about Alamy is not the amount of sales but the commission, but I've been thinking for a while that something I'm not doing well on the web !! ?? All my photographs are as optimized According to my dashboard, my portfolio has 3780 visits and 0.24 CTR. Any ideas? Many thanks! My portfolio: https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/650915.html
  11. Hi, I am a contributor at Alamy and I have a question about my account. I recently started shooting in the studio with models and I want to upload this photos (with Model Releases). Since my current account is comprised mainly from landscape photos, should I create a new account for people photos? If I upload people photos to this account will it affect my sales potential in any way ? Thanks !
  12. Hi guys, i'm a long time contributor, my collection is 80% editorial, i think could to have a better performance of sales. than now (5-7 pics/month) I don't spend so much time in Stock business, i know but welcome any recomandation for a better results. Thank you.
  13. Dear fellows, I am Jahangir Alam Onuchcha from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its been a long time as a contributor, since 10 Mar 2016 I started contributing. My Portfolio: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/onuchcha.html I have earned more than a thousand dollars from Alamy so far. My sales were medium, but some were sold every month. But September 2019 to April 2020 my Alamy sale is too low, and it's horrible, only 2 sales (16$). I did not understand. At first I thought it was normal, at the same time my other agency is selling well. I am waiting, wait, and wait... What can I do? Those are my Alamy experienced fellows I want to know your experience. Please fellows help me. Stay HOME and be Safe. Thanks
  14. how long does it take after a payment was made for it to clear? I had a sale in feb 2020 that still hasn't cleared yet.
  15. Hello team, I'd appreciate any general feedback on my portfolio. I just set it up and tried to create some galleries based on subject matter. My content is all travel and animal based, which I understand isn't what is in demand. Thanks for your time and comments! https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/lexholder
  16. A strange situatiom popped up yesterday... I received a direct message from a would-be image buyer in S.E. Asia. He had searched online to find a point of contact for me, as he wanted to negotiate an indefinite term of use for a rights-managed image, rather than Alamy's max. 5 year term. The image in question is a portrait of a high-ranking Tibetan Buddhist lama (yes, really) taken in India 3 years ago. Apparently this lama has a following in neighbouring countries and his followers hoped to print and display the image in perpetuity at their temple or meeting place. On the spur of the moment I suggested he go ahead with the 5-year license and I would undertake that they could retain right of usage indefinitely. Now I see that they have only taken out 'noncommercial, personal use' which seems rather poor compensation... what would others do?
  17. I've looked at the other topics discussing this issue, and none seemed to be exactly on point. I just got a bunch of photos passed of a tourist attraction here in the US. Not a vastly popular one, but in an area where surprisingly I've licensed a fair number on Alamy and some via my site on Photoshelter too - I think that these are two places where editors go for those hard to find images. I'm tempted to tick "exclusive to Alamy" because they are not the types of images I expect to sell often, hence I've uploaded them here, and I don't expect they'd be a big draw on either of the other two macro sites where I could also upload them, but obviously just having them here lowers my chance of licensing elsewhere. Have you found that ticking "exclusive to Alamy" has boosted sales? I know the extra 10% is nice and am kicking myself that I've had a few sales of images that are only here but which I did not tick as "exclusive." Most of my Alamy images are not on sale elsewhere, but I'm reluctant to restrict them. I'd love know what people's experience has been so far with this new development. I'm also not sure how much this locks me in. Am I correct that I can still license an image myself? How long is the exclusive period for? Can I change them back by giving Alamy a certain amount of notice? Has "exclusive" been defined? At other sites it usually locks you in for 6 months, or 2 years, or 5 years. Does anyone know what the time is here? Thanks for input.
  18. I have come across some subjects where there are very few images available, one even with no images. So my immediate thought was to upload new ones to fill that gap, but a search on all of alamy shows no search queries for past 12 months. Should I still bother here? Any thoughts?
  19. OK, I'll go first. Dreadful month: five sales, netting me <$56. 😞 To add insult to injury, my best-value sale of the month was refunded the day after it was invoiced and re-invoiced at 20% less. Uniquely in years, not one UK Newspaper sale. 3Bs, a J and a P. I've been uploading a lot; clearly just not what buyers want to buy.
  20. Hey all, it's about a year ago that I made my first submission to Alamy. With over 6000 photos online and with only a few sales yet I'm thinking about improving keywords and captions. Do you have any ideas what I can do better, should avoid or what mistakes I should definitely correct? Please note that I have already read the guides on keywording on Alamy. Or do I just need more patience? Cheers, Caspar
  21. Since 1 week i'm having 0 for sales, zooms ...no views at all! I'm a bit worried... am i banned or did something wrong my ranking decreased a lot? Anyone having the same behaviour? It's the first time in about 3 yrs on Alamy something like that is happening. CTR is a bit above average
  22. Hi First post on here & I would be very grateful for any feedback you may have to offer. SALES DECLINE My sales up to the end of 2018 were increasing roughly in line with the number of photos online, achieving an average of just under a sale a week last year. However my sales for Jan-Mar 2019 have been almost nil and I am at a loss to explain this sudden drop. I would have expected them to remain constant even without the 1000+ images I have keyworded from late 2018 onwards. FYI I am still getting roughly the same zooms. Has anyone else experienced a drop in sales with Alamy this year? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Rich
  23. It seems my total revenues on Alamy started to decline as soon as i converted quite all my pics to RF. I only left some pics to RM whose are the ones which sell better at the moment. Anyone experiencing the same?
  24. Hi, l have been editing my photos description and keywords to try and improve there searchability. The bar at the top of the editing window remains static and will not turn green from orange, green indicating good discoverability. Can somebody give me advice on how to improve this. Thank you. Chris
