Hello, My name is Allan, I am not after a definitive answer and I certainly don't wish to go over the same issues that so many must have asked but with so many changes over the years within the stock world/ Industry. Is it worth the investment ?? Of course many come in to this arena for different reasons, the monetary side of things is a must not a bonus for me, I've sold many images as a photographer, I have been commissioned time and time again over the years but I need diversity, I want diversity, many periods within any one year, I have the energy, the time, the creativity to invest in Alamy but I wish for success. I have been a member for a while but without really getting hooked. Do you enjoy the process, is it a job to you, perhaps a side hustle for you but is it financially rewarding and creatively rewarding? An image of mine has recently sold for £5 but that is it.. I am new really to the process and would love your thoughts. Thank you for getting this far and I look forward for feed back and some replies. Thanks Allan -
I've attended the free AdobeMAX Virtual conference for the past two years and have learned so much despite already being quite adept at Photoshop and Lightroom. If you want to learn more about the newest filters etc. or about the many other programs available, especially fun free programs such as Capture and painting with Fresco for your iPad, or the Photoshop camera app that lets you set parameters for your camera right on your iPhone, and also all the kinds of classes you get at a typical photo conference, then here's the link: https://max.adobe.com/virtual-max/ If you sign up, you can also go back and watch the videos from the live classes for a year afterwards - a nice bonus since long days of classes can be overwhelming for those of us long past our school days. In person, I think it cost $1,400, not including flights, hotels, food, etc. I've found that throughout Covid, Adobe has really made a commitment to its customers with free classes throughout the year, meetups on Discord, and making this conference available to everyone. There are classes 24 hours a day, so no matter your time zone, you can attend some live as well as watching videos of others that interest you. Anyway, thought many of you would appreciate the head's up. The joy of creation is something I think we all love, or we wouldn't be doing this. -
I signed up for some upcoming DxO webinars on the upgrades to the Nik collection filters and was wondering if anyone had given the upgrades a look or if you're planning to check out the webinars? Here are links to the Nik Webinars I have the old filters upgraded from my ages-ago purchase after Google bought them, which I use via LR (can't get them to work with PS anymore). I had intended to purchase the DxO upgrades but they never seemed like much and they didn't have an upgrade option for those of us whoo actually paid for the filters, though now it's so long ago that it's the lack of something new that keeps me from upgrading. I'm wondering what they've added. It looks like they are focusing a lot on Vivenza (which I use on occasion) and Silver Effex, my go-to for black and white, which I find absolutely perfect as is, but I'm intrigued. I've played around with the B&W options in LR and even written articles about it, but the artistry of Silver Effex is leap years ahead of LR. I use Color Effex a lot and also enjoy playing with Analog Pro which is like diving into a mountain of candy - you never really know what you'll get but it's usually something fun. I wish they'd make it easier to save presets in Analog Pro, the Color Effex presets are great for processing a batch of images (albeit one at a time, with work on U-Points requiring you to do each separately). Anyway, thoughts welcome pre and post webinars.
