Keywords, captions, supertags, location
rickygui posted a question in Community support: ask the forum
Been in my mind for a long time. Please help. 1) Let's say my caption have "luxury brand shops", is it necessary to include in keywords again? 2) Is supertags necessary to apply? 3) At the Optional section, there is "location". Is it necessary to apply again when caption and keywords already stated the location? -
Hi everyone, Alamy newbie here; something to do whilst locked down during the virus crisis! I just uploaded 2,500 images by FTP transfer, they were all titled and captioned in Lightroom before doing so but as I look at them in my Alamy Image Manager, waiting in Quality Control they are all showing file names instead of titles! Will the titles be in place once the images have passed quality control or delete everything now, find out what went wrong and start again?

I have been having discussions with other photographers about live news captions. I normally take the view that as long as I cover the 5 “W”’s, who, what, when, where and why I am OK and generally shorter is better for busy picture editors. If a newspaper is going to use one of my pictures of a cabinet minister then it is normally attached to some sort of policy/announcement and all they need is a name title, location date Thus “ (date) Julian Smith MP PC Secretary of State for Northern Ireland leaves a Brexit meeting at the Cabinet office Whitehall London” is sufficient. Or “London 20th August 2019 Pro democracy Hong Kong demonstrators outside the Cabinet Office in Whitehall London.” If the photo is not is not so obvious, such as a recent Essex Custom Culture show (excuse the oxymoron) I would put in details thus “(date) 1937 Model T Ford on display at the Essex Custom Culture Show in Brentwood, Essex. The custom Culture Show is an exhibition of British and North American culture from the early thirties to the sixties.” However i note some photographers put much much more detail in their captions. For example Julian Smith MP PC Northern Ireland Secretary leaves the Cabinet office in Whitehall after a Brexit meeting, escorted by a police officer with anti Brexit protesters in the background” i know there is no completely correct answer but what are contributors views?

Hey all, it's about a year ago that I made my first submission to Alamy. With over 6000 photos online and with only a few sales yet I'm thinking about improving keywords and captions. Do you have any ideas what I can do better, should avoid or what mistakes I should definitely correct? Please note that I have already read the guides on keywording on Alamy. Or do I just need more patience? Cheers, Caspar
