Charles Stirling started following Image Manager totally wrong listings
-
I'm missing about 15 thousand images in my listing. If I go to Image Manager it now says I have 14,924 images though it also gives a figure of 1033 total images, a little while ago I was over 35,000 as I remember it. Wondering what is happing. Also looking at the number under All submissions for the year lists 30. Individual days upload numbers seem correct but totals don't make sense. Is anyone else seeing this?

Nice sale
Charles Stirling replied to geogphotos's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
Congratulations. Yes, keep shooting and don't give up. I need that advice, back with the Black Lives Matter demos in Bristol I had been following for a few hours and as the march started through city centre I decided to leave. I was tired, had enough. Took a parallel road and heard some loud cheering but didn't go back. This was when the Colston statue was token down then dumped in Bristol Harbour. Could have had rather a lot of photos of that but had none. -

Device for downloading photos
Charles Stirling replied to Alexander Hogg's question in Community support: ask the forum
I used to have hard drives with built in battery and CF card reader, but only about 36GB, fine at that time. Moved on to small laptop and USB 3 hard drives (one for carry on, one for luggage one for partner to carry when travelling). Always worry about theft, bags going missing, etc. and very slow internet or sometimes very expensive. Now trying some of the tips from here with hub connected with a USB-C connector to Android tablet. Even a hub able to have a power booster wasn't able to use a small HD (works on computer, not tablet or phone). Sort of worked going from SD or XQD card but difficult working out file structure as on Android not giving a good clear USB file map. Going to try with SSD or get one of the housing for an M2 drive. -
property release Oxford
Charles Stirling replied to Flick Merauld's question in Community support: ask the forum
One aspect to property releases I'm never sure about is who has authority to assign rights. If a building is the the mortgage company, the householder, the architect, lodger, husband and wife, etc. I gather if its a car it could need to be a factory designer not the “owner”. A bit like buying a painting now, the original artist still has some control. Makes rights management seem virtually impossible to handle as a lone freelance photographer.- 42 replies

Submitting news, how?
Charles Stirling replied to Charles Stirling's question in Community support: ask the forum
I don't shoot news regularly is part of the problem. I tried contacting the news team but just had recorded message no one in the office till Monday (this was Saturday). Most of the time my photos are automaticity passed QC but every half dozen or so uploads they check to just verify position. So this shoot was just the local Pro-Palestine march so well covered, but it struck me that if anyone had some extraordinary coverage of some news their isn't a way to get it on Alamy. No answer on phone or email. -
Way back when I used to be accepted for submitting live news but its not my main photography so was removed from that option. Just took some that might have counted as new and found no way of submitting so they could be viewed in a timely fashion. What does one do if they have something that is possibly a top new photo? Seems we can't use Alamy (could take too long in QC even with ***** rating).

Views and Zooms have dropped to near zero
Charles Stirling replied to mwakeling's question in Community support: ask the forum
My CTR has also plummeted between June and July. Sales and zooms had been consistent for a year or more all of a sudden dropped. -
Hovering over the "Same contributor" symbol
Charles Stirling replied to NYCat's question in Community support: ask the forum
Yes, same here. Just occasionly now get a fly out of other images when hovering over an image. Not sure why or how. -
Alamy legal complaint
Charles Stirling replied to Phil's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
I took some on an inaugural airline flight, asked by cabin crew to take them, they posed for many then when put up they complained and Alamy asked to take them down. Wasn't the airline by the individuals who wanted the photos taken that wanted them removed after I sent them complimentary copies.
