  1. Thank you Paulette, my memory these days is not that great either. ☹️ Great info & tips, MDM. Thanks
  2. In a few weeks' time, I will try to carry out the following two tasks. To upgrade from my old iMac to a new Mac Studio. To migrate from LR6 to LR Classic (hope this is the right version) Is it just a matter of downloading and installing LR Classic on the new Mac, and open the old LR6 catalogue? Are there any conversion steps to follow? Or does LR Classic convert the old catalogue into a new format by itself? I feel a bit nervous about it in case I make mistakes. Can you also install LR Classic on a Macbook, too, so that I can work with LR while I am away (through import/export catalogue)? Currently, my LR6 catalogue file (*.lrcat), Priviews.lrdata, Lightroom Backups, my photos (majority in DNG format) and all my documents, etc are in a G-Tech external hard drive. So does this mean that I can just connect it to a new machine and start to use it as usual? Or do I still need to copy and paste presets, templates, etc in relevant folders in the new machine? I noticed today, in Lightroom6 Preference, Presets tab, ‘Store presets with this catalog’ is ticked. What happens if I untick this now? I would appreciate it very much if you could share your experiences. Thanks Sung
  3. I am in a similar/worse situation. From your current iMac, if you want an 'upgrade', it will have to be, IMO, a Mac Studio M2 with the same or more memory/storage + a monitor. I am sure other people's advice, which might differ, will follow. Sung
  4. Thank you, Rico & Julie. Much appreciated. Sung
  5. Now my head starts spinning 😵‍💫. Thank you, @MDM for the link about the hardware v software calibration. And thank you, everyone, for sharing your experience. Sung
  6. Hi Allan. Thank you for the info. When did you buy it? I guess it is quite recent. The situation is very similar. My iMac houses only OS & apps. All my data are stored in external HDs. Sung
  7. My main reason was connectivity. After you comment, I had another look, now at the Mac Mini Pro. Yes it has the same number of port/connections at the back. The Mini Pro with 32GB & 1TB SSD is £2,299 and the M2 Max with 32GB & 1TB SSD is also £2,299. Is there something I am missing?
  8. Thank you, MDM for your explanation as well as your time. Sung
  9. Great, @MDM, and thank you for your suggestion. That might be it! BTW you said 'a monitor that has hardware calibration', can you elaborate a bit more? I think I saw somewhere some Eizo have built-in self calibration censor. Sung
  10. Thank you, MDM. As always, you give good advice. I suppose I need to revise the budget. Sung
  11. I am reaching a stage where I will soon need to upgrade my aging 2013 iMac 21” (High Sierra with LR 6 & PS CS6). I am not particularly familiar with hardwares available in the current market, therefore, I would like to seek some advice. (I am going to ask a separate question with regard to migrating from PS6 & LR6 to the current versions of PS & LR, ie, subscription.) At the moment, I am considering a Mac Studio mainly for its connectivity, which needs a monitor too. I am interested in 24” Eizo monitors as I used one (18 or 20”) years ago and I liked it and found it reliable. My budget is up to £700. The main use is photography editing, maybe video but no games. Can you please tell me what is the difference between Eizo ColorEdge & Eizo FlexScan a part from prices? Can you detect difference visually? Can you recommend any particular model(s) and what features I need to look for please? Will I be able to change brightness, contrast, etc on the monitor itself? Or any alternative monitors by other manufacturers? Where would you buy it? I have a Spyder 4 Pro colorimeter. Will I be able to use this to calibrate these monitors, connected to a M2 Mac Studio? Not a monitor question but I also have an Epson V700 Photo Scanner for my film photography. Will I be able to use it with a M2 Mac Studio? I will be very grateful for any advice and/or suggestions. Many thanks Sung
  12. Thank you Nick & Andrew. I thought of that, then 300 images in a package sounded too many. Then I thought someone else' images were bought for $xxxx each. and mine was just $27 but then for anysize & unlimited print run? Hope other photogs were paid a lot more than I was. Sung
  13. I like your wishful thinking but seriously it is baffling and upsetting.
