  1. And here we go again... Maybe it's a new way to do this business? Or some kind of a game? Interesting choice this time, don't you think? FXW112
  2. Philippe, that's the case - there are lots of inquiries in last around 12 months and nobody I know got any sale ever. Images are completly various in quality and subject, the price seems to include both the chosen image and any similar, so if you must freeze 6 images for their EX, you get only $950 for all, which is ridiculous. Even for one image for book cover, 10 years exclusivity, the price is not attractive at all. Of course if they will ever buy it... From what I see here and on the FB group, many people got that emails... It would be nice Alamy cleared that thing to us, what is going on, as the whole case clearly looks weird.
  3. As we know there are "Exclusivity inquiry" emails coming in last months. The client wants to buy an exclusive license as below: Image: xxxxxaUsage: Trade/Retail book coverDuration: 10 yearsTerritory: WorldwideExclusivity: Industry/Spot (Trade Books/Cover) ... The client’s fee would be $950 USD and is non-negotiable. ... If you would approve, any similar/sister images should be restricted from sale in the same manner, including images: xxxxxb Here are two of my images under inquiry: - DEYJKX (and similar DEYJ7C) - DNBY4R (and similar F8C53D) Curious, what are yours? Ok, the real idea is to see how many of us got that emails and what is going on...
  4. Please, excuse my ignorance, but isn't it better and easier to ask Alamy what the stars mean instead guessing?
  5. So now I know 3 people who sold E, great! Looks like it works. I have about 50/50% RM and RF images and I sell around 50/50% RM and RF. I don't see that much difference as you say between two of the licenses. About the pricing differences, it's exactly like above - 50/50%. RF and RM are in similar $.
  6. No. You keep control over the RM usages (actually Alamy does) and client can see the history of the image, where and when it was (or will be) used. If he wants to use your file as E, than he can ask for the option, but it's not usual, it's very rare, that's why you should pick only RM, not RM-E to increase your chances for sales - I don't know anyone who sold E ever. And more, client can buy E for only some fields of usage - how and when it will be E. After the period image can be standard RM again. Try imagine huge campaing and the situation where two king brands meet together in the same time with the same image in project on their billboards... Brand A next to his competitor, brand B That's why they pay more for RM (E)
  7. You have the answer in your question RM will bring the long-term income ... because it's RM. Explanation: Anna is buying your image as RF and she uses it everywhere she wants, forever. Pays you once and never come's back for the same image. You can multiply it for xxxx clients. Maria is buying the image as RM specific license and she uses it once in detailed way. If she wants to use it again next year or next project, she must comes back and pay again... You can multiply the scheme for xxxx clients. Let's say in both cases the number of clients who buy your file is limited to the same number... Can you see the difference in long-term income now?
  8. I believe each of us have different experience and expectations, as different images and style (different client at the end). In my photo sell experience I've noticed that it's better to sell RM (like Philippe's). Others will do better with selling RF. Why fight for the rights? Dbooksta (and all other newbies), test your ground, try both and make your conclusions after two years (one is nothing in macro sales).
  9. It's up to you if you want to loose control over your work (RF) or keep it (RM). I started years ago with RF only, because all friends did RF and I had no idea what I loose with this choice. After all these years of experience I've learnt that all I need is RM, and this is my goal to produce RM only. About pricing, it's not that RM is cheaper. Some RM orders can give you xxxx $ for only one usage! Consider also that many clients don't want to use RF images in their projects to not meet the same picture everywhere... That's why they are ready to pay more for RM.
  10. That's why I opted out. It feels soooo good not to feel pain anymore If Alamy decides to change the % so I earn my 50% and distr. + Alamy share the another 50% I'll opt in again, why not. Can't understand why the third hand should get the bigges pie of the cake...
