New Fuji X100VI announced
geoff s replied to Harry Harrison's topic in Alamy Quality Control and technical talk
The Sony is clearly well liked but I wonder why the Panasonic LX100 mk2 doesn't get talked about as often ? Seems to be equally well specified and has a larger sensor. Also I believe it has a more traditional dial- based rather than menu- based design which is another plus point in my opinion. -

I hear you. But thanks for sharing these wonderful photos with us. I hope they do sell!

Am not sure if there is still any reason to submit such images to Alamy nowadays

I have a couple for once in a much larger town near me, had an opportunity so I took it. Also I don't know why I have to go through multiple steps to get the URL of these unless someone knows a quicker route... I might have improved since December 2023 but I'm still figuring out better tagging since I have no CTR at the moment.

Yesterday I was stuck in stand-still traffic while trying to get home after a shoot in Virginia. Not a great picture but I asked my son to grab my camera out of the bag on the back seat and I snapped one frame of the headquarters of a major U.S. financial corporation, Capital One, in McLean, Virginia. Hopefully it will sell to offset the extra gas I had to use...it took an hour and half for what should have been thirty minutes to get home.

People waiting for the bus, people getting on the bus, the bus pulling out. Same for the train. Pictures close up of the bus/train schedule. The market storefront, people entering the market, people leaving the market with purchases, inside the market, someone with an item in their hand looking at it, people in the checkout lane, someone using the self-checkout. Find a bench, sit for a while with camera handy & snap people doing things. If it’s raining, find a place with cover you can shoot people walking by dealing with the rain, umbrellas, newspaper over head, human interest. Your Sony RX100VII is a spy camera, you know. And you take great images!

Maybe start doing an editorial style of caption for these additional images, anyone searching might want a specific year etc. Could add value to each image. Also monitor the local news and photograph places making the news, new store openings etc.

I didn't go though all that to view it but I see the same. If it had been my image and my processing I'd say I'd had to over do noise removal and sharpening giving that plasticy look. I don't think it's severe, I think you've been unlucky. -
I guess that's why it is Strawberry Fields Forever. The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn is fabulous and they encourage visitors. A nice place to spend some time even if not forever. Paulette

Have you taken a look at the book 'Secret Liverpool an unusual guide' by Mike Keating Edo? May be some quirky subjects in there that you haven't captured yet? Might be a project to work through it?

I've never seen the Beatles statues in L'pool, but a I spent hours just a bit further back from the Mersey watching the Bucket Fountain in the late 60's. (Students need to fill their time). Have you photographed that? I didn't have a good enough camera back then. 😢

John Morrison - you okay?

I'm sorry to hear it - my sympathies to his friends and family. The same thing has just happened to an old friend of mine, and the shocking speed of it all is particularly horrible. Alex -

+1, what I mainly see is too much NR. I recall it from some ongoing problems I had somewhile ago. I think of it as a mosaic with too-big tesserae. I downsize high-ISO images routinely- 1600 is usually OK though. I see the A68 is quite similar to my 55. -
